High Sheriff of Leicestershire joined the tour of three churches in east Leicestershire and two just over the border in Rutland, organised by the Leicestershire Historic Churches Trust, which Janet chairs. Roger Willson gave us a wonderfully instructive tour covering several centuries of church architecture, and several ways of organising the interior of an Anglican church. Brooke, Lyddington and King’s Norton and Tur Langton churches contain fascinating interiors from the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, respectively. Pictured is the lovely church at Stockerston which (like many of Leicestershire’s best churches) dates from the 13th-15th centuries. Roger was able to explain how it had changed during that period, and we all particularly enjoyed the very fine 15th century stained glass. Roll on the next LHCT churches tour!
