High Sheriff in Nomination for 2018-19
Diana has lived in Leicestershire all her life. After leaving school, she went to Secretarial College and was employed by The Field magazine, where she worked with the Assistant Editor and became responsible for scripting and editing the Queries Page and Theatre Reviews.
In 1977 she married Andrew Thompson FRICS, Resident Agent to the Duke of Rutland’s Belvoir and Haddon Estates. She subsequently set up a cookery business, Frozen Assets, which she ran successfully until 1982 when her children were born. Subsequently, Diana became a qualified Montessori Nursery School teacher and started a Montessori Nursery School which she ran for 25 years. She is now running a cookery school from her home at Branston.
During her time in Leicestershire, Diana has been involved with a number of local charities: the Peter le Marchant Trust; the fundraising committee for a children’s scanner for the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham; and she was on the Lincolnshire Red Cross Committee for a number of years. She was also District Commissioner for The Belvoir Pony Club and a member of the Under 8’s Forum for Children in Leicestershire (Melton area). She is currently Chairman of the Parish Council for Croxton Kerrial and Branston.
Diana was widowed in 2009. Her children, Laetitia and Ben, are both married and work in London.
