Magna Carta Lunch at The Mansion House – 12 May

We were part of the Leicester group that attended a lunchtime reception at the Mansion House in the City of London to commemorate the 800th Anniversary of the entry into London of the Baronial army – one of the events that persuaded King John to sign Magna Carta a few weeks later.  Leicester and Belvoir both had ‘Magna Carta barons’ and Sir Peter Soulsby, who has chaired many of the meetings of the Magna Carta Barons’ Association, gave the keynote speech.  The picture shows (from right to left) Charlotte and Reece who are both members of the Young People’s Council and fulfil several advocacy roles for young people in Leicester, Sarah Levitt Head of Arts and Museums in Leicester,  the High Sheriff’s Chaplain Canon David Jennings, Bob Collins MVO DL, and the High Sheriff.  Behind us are the mace and sword of the Lord Mayor of London.
